The Faculty of Law, Humanities, and Social Sciences hosted a Postgraduate Society Launch and Symposium with aims to support postgraduate students in their academic journey at the Zamukulungisa site in Mthatha on 28 August 2025
The society is also aimed at providing a platform for them to share their experiences and gain valuable insights.
Master of Arts in Social work student Ziyandiswa Fono, highlighted the society's vision, "We want to create a cozy space where postgraduate students can feel empowered and supported, this initiative is expected to foster a sense of community among postgraduate students.”
The session encouraged active engagement from the postgraduate students, who participated enthusiastically in discussions as well as questions and answers.
Faculty executive dean Professor Thabisani Ndlovu said, "Do not pretend to know it all, spend more time in your books, stay focused, and persevere." He emphasized the importance of humility and dedication in achieving academic success.
Ndlovu also highlighted that publishing your work, attending conferences, and building relationships with peers and professionals are essential elements for success in postgraduate studies.
The event provided a platform for postgraduate students to connect with one another, share their experiences, and gain valuable insights from different speakers.
“With the guidance and support provided by the Faculty and the Postgraduate Society, students are well-equipped to navigate their academic journey and achieve their goals,” said Fono.
The event marked an important milestone in the faculty's commitment to supporting postgraduate students, providing them with inspiration and practical advice to thrive in their academic pursuits.
