Bachelor of Education (FET): Economics and Management Sciences
Minimum Requirements for Senior Certificate
- The minimum requirement for admission to EMS in SP & FET Teaching is an approved 480 credit Level university Bachelor’s degree: EMS
Minimum Requirements for National Senior Certificate
- A National Senior Certificate with a Bachelors’ endorsement and rating of level 4 (50 – 59%) in any four NSC subjects. Applicants with NSC minimum achievement level 4 (50 – 59 %) in ANY Two of the approved Business, Commerce and Management (BCM) Learning Field subjects comprising Accounting, Business Studies, Computer Applications Technology, Economics, and Mathematics. NSC rating of at least level 4 (50 – 59%) for English which is the language of learning and teaching at WSU, is also required OR
- A Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption or mature age exemption with at least 40% or E symbol on HG or 50% or D symbol on SG in English and 40% or E (HG) or 50% or D symbol on SG in ANY Two of the following subjects; Accounting, Business Studies, Computer Applications Technology or Computer Typing or Computer Practice, Economics and Mathematics OR
- A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Level 4/N3 Certificate with Bachelor’s degree endorsement with at least 50% in English and 60% in ANY Two of the following subjects; Applied Accounting or Financial Accounting, Business Practice, Economic Environment, Life Orientation, Mathematics and Office Data Processing OR
- N4 or N5 or N6 Certificate/National N Diploma with 50% achievement in ANY Two of the following subjects: Entrepreneurship & Business Management, Financial Accounting, Computer Practice or Information Processing, Economics and Mathematics.
Minimum Duration

Bachelor of Education: Senior Phase and Further Education and Training Teaching (Technical)
Minimum Requirements for Senior Certificate
- A Senior Certificate (SC) with Matriculation Exemption or mature exemption with at least E (HG) or D (SG) in English, any two subjects in the approved Technical subjects (Mechanical Technology, Civil Technology, Electrical Technology and EGD) or Mathematics and Physical Science, and a pass in any other one or two school subjects.
Minimum Requirements for National Senior Certificate
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a Bachelor degree endorsement. The following subjects are required:
- Achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) in English; Achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) in Technical Mathematics or Engineering Graphics and Design or Mathematics
- Achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) in Civil Technology or Electrical Technology or Mechanical Technology or Technical Sciences or Physical Science; Achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) for any other two subjects
- Applicants with 4 (50 - 59%) in two or more of the approved Technical subjects (Civil Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, EGD, Technical Mathematics and Technical Sciences) will receive first preference.

A student will choose from the combination modules:
- Civil Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design
- Electrical Technology and Mathematics Education
- Mechanical Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design.
A student will choose one from the module combinations:

- Mechanical Technology (FET), Engineering Graphics and Design (FET) or Technical Sciences (FET) and Technology (SP)
- Engineering Graphics and Design (FET), Technical Mathematics (FET) or Technical Sciences (FET) and Technology (SP)
- Mathematics (FET), Technical Mathematics (FET) or Technical Sciences (FET) and Mathematics (SP).

Postgraduate Certificate: Education in Senior Phase and Further Education & Training Teaching (PGCE SP & FET)
Minimum Requirements
- The minimum requirements for admission to PGCE in SP & FET is an approved 360 credit National Diploma: ABET

Duration: 1 year full-time; 2 years part-time
BEd Foundation Phase Teaching (BEd FPT)
Minimum Requirements for Senior Certificate
- The minimum requirement for admission is a Senior Certificate with a Matriculation Exemption endorsement and a minimum of two subjects with E (HG) or D (SG) from isiXhosa HL or English and Mathematics and a pass in any two other school subjects.
- Plus, a Mature age exemption certificate for applicants in possession of the Senior Certificate as per WSU General Rules and Regulations.
Minimum Requirements for the National Senior Certificate
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a Bachelor degree endorsement and:
- At minimum level 2 (30 – 39%) in Mathematics or Level 3 (40 – 49%) Mathematical Literacy
- Minimum Level 4 (50 – 59%) in English
- Minimum Level 4 (50 – 59%) in IsiXhosa
- Minimum Level 5 (60 – 69%) in Life Orientation
- Plus any other two subjects, at the minimum level 3(40 – 49%)
- NB: Proficiency in languages of learning and teaching - isiXhosa and English - is a requirement.
Compulsory major subjects are:
