The Department strives to instil entrepreneurial skills in our graduates to support their academic talents.

Therefore ongoing entrepreneurial exposure will be presented via successful local business people and other

entrepreneurial experts. Students and staff are encouraged become members of the various professional and

institutional bodies.

Purpose of the Qualification

The purpose of this qualification is to equip the students with the knowledge, capabilities and skills to execute

the main roles of human resources management which include:

  • Strategic planning of human resources.
  • Talent sourcing, administration and effective utilisation of human capital.
  • Human resources development.
  • Labour and employee relations.

On completion the student will be capable of:

  • Performing human resource planning and talent management as a strategic partner of an organisation.
  • Carrying out human resources practices within a workplace.

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

Critical Cross-Field Outcomes:

This programme aims to develop the Critical Cross-Field Outcomes as listed below:

  • Identify and solve problems in which responses display that responsible decision using critical

and creative thinking have been made.

  • Work effectively with others as a member of a team, group, organisation and community.
  • Organise and manage oneself and one's activities responsibly and effectively.
  • Collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate information
  • Communicate effectively using visual, mathematical and/or language skills in the modes of oral

and written presentations.

  • Use science and technology effectively and critically, showing responsibility towards the

environment and the heath of others.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the world as a set of related systems recognised that

problem-solving contexts do not exist in isolation.

Minimum Admission Requirements

  • NSC pass with a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree endorsement.

Achievement rating of at least: 3 in Mathematics or 4 in Mathematics Literacy and a 3 in English; and a

pass with a rating of 3 in any other three recognised grade 12 subjects except Life Orientation.

  • NCV-1 Fundamental Component:

Achievement of 50% in the English; Life Orientation and Mathematics OR Mathematical Literacy and 3

Vocational Component subjects with an achievement of 60% in from the Management /Finance Stream

  • RPL – Prior Learning shall be recognised subject to the requirements of the programme as per the

university’s Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.

  • Mature age endorsement – a non- matriculant may be admitted to a degree or a diploma programme if

he/she has obtained a certificate of conditional exemption issued by the Matriculation Board on

recommendation of the Senate.
