FACULTY OF EDUCATION

The Faculty of Education is the largest Faculty at Walter Sisulu University and is home to more than 8000 students. The Faculty is located at the Komani Campus of WSU with a delivery site at the Mthatha Campus. The Faculty has 6 Departments that offer 17 programmes ranging from Diplomas to Education Doctoral qualifications.

Our undergraduate qualifications prepare teachers to teach in the critical school learning fields of Science, Mathematics, Technical and Vocational, Creative Arts, Humanities, Business and Management and Adult education among others. The above specialisations are offered in the different phases of the schooling system namely, Foundation Phase, Senior and Further Education and Training Phase and Adult Education. Our Postgraduate programmes offer growth and development opportunities to practicing teachers and education professionals.

Through these programmes we respond to societal needs in ethically, scholarly, sustainable, technology-infused, and entrepreneurial ways. This is aimed at preparing future-ready graduates, teachers, subject advisors and educational leaders/managers of the highest calibre for the school system in the Eastern Cape, South Africa and globally.
