2019 was the final year of enrolments into non-HEQSF aligned qualifications. Students who were enrolled into these programmes were in the pipeline stages and the last cohort were afforded the opportunity to complete their studies in 2023(N+2). Students who failed to complete in the allotted period will be subjected to normal university exclusion rules and processed and if re-admitted will be articulated into the new HEQSF aligned programmes.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

The department suspended admission of new students to all National Diplomas and Bachelor of Technology degrees with effect from 2020 (2019 was the final year of the first-year intake). The department:

• Has communicated with students as to the importance of their completing their qualification within the phase-out period.
• Engaged with students on the need for them to have an academic plan in place that will enable them to complete the qualification requirements within the teach-out period.
• Has advised students that if they do not make adequate progress on their academic plan during the teach-out period, then they will have to enrol in the HEQSF-aligned programme, which may require additional time and modules to be completed.
• Has advised students that the admission of any students previously enrolled into a non-aligned qualification, and who seek re-admission on a non-aligned qualification will be considered on a case-by-case basis, based on prior academic success and the student's ability to complete the programme within the teach-out period.
• Has advised students that those who do not complete the non-aligned qualifications for which they have enrolled (ND and BTech programmes) by the final teach-out date and who wish to continue with their studies will be required to articulate into the restructured HEQSF-aligned Diploma or Advanced Diploma. The number of subjects that may be transferred will be determined, based on the equivalency of subjects.
