Qualification Objective

Entry Requirements

  The purpose of the qualification is to equip students who want to become qualified classroom teachers of Grades 8 - 12.

The qualification accredits the development of professional competence informed by sound knowledge and understanding of the areas of specialisation and educational theory.

NQF level 6 or NQF level 7 qualification in appropriate disciplines, which allow the prospective teacher to specialise in at least two subjects

Teaching and learning strategy:   Learner centredness, Technology infused  

Assessment strategy:  Formative and Summative Assessment

Progression Rules:  Student passes all the eleven modules to graduate

RPL and Credit Transfer:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be used to demonstrate competence for admission to this qualification in line with the university’s RPL policy. Refer to requirements as per 2023 WSU General Prospectus  – Section 4, paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7

Credit Transfer

Students are allowed to apply for formal credits recognition for modules / courses attained from other institutions, according to the university’s policy on credit transfers. Refer to requirements as per 2023 WSU General Prospectus  – Section 4, paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7

 

Articulation rules: Vertical articulation allows the candidate to enrol for the Bachelor of Education (Honours)Bachelor of

Exclusion Rules: A student who fails to complete the certificate in 2 years may be excluded
