ICT LECTURER TAKES WSU RESEARCH ABROAD

Lecturer in the WSU Komani Campus Department of Information and Communication Technology, Munienge Mbodila, was one of the international researchers invited to presenting papers at the prestigious Paris Conference on Education held in June (PCE2023).

PCE2023 brought together delegates from a variety of national, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to present new research and engage in intellectual discussion.

Mbodila, who’s also Head of ICT, graced the stage and presented his paper titled: “Towards the Design and Implementation of a Blended Learning Framework for Student-centredness”.

His research was inspired by the surge in technological advancements which brought on impeccable changes to methods of teaching and learning following the covid-19 pandemic.

“The integration of online learning components with other delivery methods already in use at the university are described in the article. Expanding the flexible learning mode already in use, creating a more student-centered learning environment, and raising staff and student participation were the objectives” said Mbodila.

Furthermore, Mbodila’s research analyses a few of the potential advantages of incorporating online components into adaptable distribution systems that heavily depend on a technical approach.

“These opportunities include those to design educational experiences for students and encourage collaboration as they grow more independent, self-reliant, and acquire other skills necessary for lifetime learning,” he said.

Earlier in 2023, Mbodila travelled to the United States of America to present at the DREAM 2023 conference, where he shared WSU’s best practices in promoting students’ success initiatives.

He asserted that WSU was making incredible strides in the integration of technology in its teaching and learning processes.

“In the pursuit of excellence, through the use of data-informed approach to address students’ needs and decision-making, WSU sees student success interventions as being student-voice centered, a team effort, and embedded in teaching and learning philosophy,” said Mbodila.
