Join Us in the Fight Against Student Hunger WSU NO to Student Hunger Campaign

Walter Sisulu University (WSU) is launching an urgent initiative, the WSU NO! to Student Hunger Campaign, to tackle the critical issue of food insecurity among our students. Many of our financially disadvantaged students, who are not covered by NSFAS funding, face significant hardships that affect their well-being and academic success.

Why This Campaign Matters

At WSU, we believe that no student should go hungry. Unfortunately, many of our students face food insecurity due to financial challenges. This can have devastating effects on their health, well-being, and ability to succeed academically. The WSU Institutional Student Representative Council (ISRC) has recognized this issue and is leading the charge to ensure that our students receive the support they need.

Our Goal

The WSU NO! to Student Hunger Campaign aims to raise an additional R2.2 million, supplementing the current R800,000 already available (including R300,000 from the ISRC and R500,000 from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office). This total of R3 million will be used to provide food parcels to over 3,000 students in urgent need.
