WSU ACADEMIC C0-AUTHORS ACCLAIMED RESEARCH GUIDE

Walter Sisulu University lecturer in the Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr Anthony Kambi Masha is one of the contributors to a book titled Fundamentals of Research in Humanities, Social Sciences and Education.

Masha, a Public Management lecturer at Komani campus contributed two book chapters in the book titled, Selecting Your Instruments for Data Collection and Key Steps in Presenting The Summary of A Study.

“Writing the book chapters is a privilege for me because I have heavily fallen in love with research. Relatedly, some of the work in the two chapters comes from literature that I have read in previous research books. Thus, I am buoyed by the reality that there will be researchers citing my work locally, nationally and internationally,” said Masha.

The book is edited by Professor Emamanuel Adu and Professor Chinedu Okeke and has 27 chapters. The editors put up a call for contributors to hundreds of researchers to be part of the project, to which Masha responded by submitting two abstracts.

“After my submission I then received an email requesting me to send in two proposals, which I did. The publishing company, Van Schaik, sent me their proposal template which I had to adhere to. After several reviews, my proposals were accepted and I was requested to write the actual book chapters,” he added.

The book is a research book that can be used by both students and lecturers to guide them through research. It is an easy-to-read guide to research that is informed purely by practical experiences. The book provides content that is simplistic in language, highly interactive, context based and learner friendly.

Masha said that interest, enthusiasm towards research and a lot of reading contributed to the stellar researcher that he is today.

“I developed a keen interest in research back in the days when I was a student at Stellenbosch University. I went through research classes and workshops and, from then onwards, I decided to follow this route. I have also been doing a lot of reading. I become like a child set loose in a sweets shop whenever I come across anything that has to do with research – books, theses, journals, conference papers.”

The book is already gazetted and will be out this month. The public can contact any Van Schaik bookstore for a copy of the book.
