WSU HONUORS STUDENT NOW INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHED RESEARCHER

Public Administration Honours student, Maxhobandile Ndamase has achieved ‘published researcher’ status after conducting research on ‘Exploring the role of mass media in promoting good governance: an interpretivist perspective,’ under the supervision of Dr Yusuf Lukman.

“The research was conducted in eight wards in the King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality where it is intended to help spheres of government on platforms to use to reach communities for community services, participation, while government spheres are being accountable, transparent, and promoting good governance and close some gaps in the existing knowledge,” said Ndamase.

The scholar’s work was published through the accredited Ponte Multidisciplinary Journal of Science and Research in Italy, which focuses on publishing innovative research articles across various disciplines for scholars and students, for worldwide access.

Ndamase joined the university in the year 2018, where he became involved in Tutoring, Peer Assistant Learning Leader (PALL), and was also active in the Directorate of Learning and Teaching (DLT) as a Writing Centre Assistant.

“Working at writing centre as an assistant played a significant part in improving and developing the academic writing of assistants. My lecturer Dr Y Lukman also played a significant part in my interest in publishing as he advised me to sharpen my skills in writing, by paying attention to things like referencing, content, and my writing style.”

Ndamase added that he is currently working on publishing four other papers, with two papers already completed and submitted to the Research Communications journal and developing the other two with Academy of Management Journal.

“My third paper is at analysis stage. The fourth paper, which I intended to present at the South African Association of Public Administration and Management conference is in the data collection stage and the abstract is already accepted.”
