WSU PROFESSOR APPOINTED AS EDITOR OF INTERNATIONAL JOURNALS
Part of WSU's strategic objectives emphasize that the university is ideally situated to serve the community and industry, as well as to strengthen relationships with local, regional, and even global communities.
Implementation Researcher and Public Health Physician in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has been appointed the Section Editor for the Journal of Public Health in Africa (JPHIA). JPHIA, under the umbrella of the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, is focused on addressing health issues in Africa.
"An opportunity like this presents an exciting possibility, not just for us alone but for Africa's public health landscape. It provides a platform for showcasing, analysing health situations and discussing fit-for-purpose interventions from an African perspective, … more like taking ownership of our health-related scientific processes and telling our health stories in the way that are true to us" expressed Olanrewaju.
Additionally, WSU’s researcher has been appointed the Guest Editor of the "Health Disparities" section for Nature Scientific Reports which focuses on publishing research in Medicine, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
Reflecting on his appointment, he said “the special collection in this section will focus on health inequities among diverse and underserved populations. The collection will help better understand dynamics in access to quality healthcare and factors like societal structures, availability of services and infrastructure, disease prevalence and lifestyle choices.”
I encourage WSU researchers to use these channels to present their research findings in a way that is true and applicable to our setting.
“This process will enhance the open dissemination of innovative research in the rapidly changing environment due to various emerging health issues, and access to rigorous scientific knowledge is critical to guiding real-world health interventions. “
