Admission Requirements – Department of Built Environment
1. Diploma in Building Technology (Mainstream Programme)
Minimum Admission Requirements (NSC)
Applicants must hold a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with:
- English: Level 4
- Mathematics: Level 4
- Physical Science: Level 4
- Any other three (3) subjects at Level 4
- Minimum APS: 24
Alternative Admission Route
Applicants with:
Mathematical Literacy: Level 6,
And all other relevant Level 4 subjects
may be considered based on availability of space, subject to departmental approval.
NC(V) Admission Requirements
Applicants must have an NCV (Level 4) in a related engineering field with:
- English: 60%
- Mathematics: 70%
- Physical Science: 70%
- All other vocational subjects: 70%
2. Diploma in Building Technology (Extended Programme)
Minimum Admission Requirements (NSC)
Applicants must hold a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with:
- English: Level 3
- Mathematics: Level 3
- Physical Science: Level 3
- Any other three (3) subjects: Level 3
- APS score: 20
- This programme is designed for students needing additional foundational support before progressing into mainstream diploma studies.
3. Non-NSC / Mature Age Admission
Applicants who do not meet standard NSC requirements may be considered through:
- RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
- Mature Age Exemption
- Senate Discretionary Admission
- Subject to departmental and institutional approval.
4. Progression / Articulation
Graduates may progress to:
- Advanced Diploma in Building
- Bachelor of Technology (old curriculum, where relevant)
- Postgraduate studies in Built Environment fields, depending on institutional pathways.
