- National Certificate (N3/N4)
- N3: C-symbols for 4 subjects including Mathematics & Engineering Science
- N4: D-symbol in Mathematics & Engineering Science
- Must also meet language requirements as per the Senior Certificate
- National Certificate (Vocational) – NCV Level 4

- Concrete Structures
- Roads
- 50% in:

2. Diploma in Civil Engineering – Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) (W60004)
- Minimum Admission Requirements (NSC)
- English: Level 4
- Mathematics: Level 4
Physical Science: Level 4
- APS Score: Minimum 22
- Note: Applicants with one subject at Level 3 (English, Mathematics, or Physical Science) may be considered for ECP.
- Senior Certificate (SC)
- Same as mainstream Diploma:
- English: E-symbol (HG)
- Mathematics: E-symbol (HG) or D-symbol (SG)
- Physical Science: E-symbol (HG) or D-symbol (SG)
- National Certificate (N3/N4)
- Same as mainstream Diploma.
- NCV Level 4
- 50% in: English, Mathematics, Life Orientation
- 60% in three vocational subjects listed above (Construction Planning, etc.)
- International Students
- Evaluated using HESA guidelines
- SAQA benchmarking where required
- Mature Age Endorsement
- As per WSU General Rules & Regulations – Section 1.6
3. Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering (W60017)
- Minimum Academic Requirements
- NQF Level 6 qualification with 360 credits in a relevant Civil Engineering discipline
- Minimum 60% average at Level III courses
- Accepted Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering (360 credits, NQF 6)
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering (360 credits, NQF 6)
- National Diploma (240 credits + 120 WIL credits)
- Higher National Diploma (T4) in Civil Engineering
- Additional Requirements for Direct Entry (No Post-Diploma Experience)
- Applicants may enter without the 1-year work experience if they have ≥60% average in the following Level 3 modules:
- Structural Analysis III
- Geotechnical Engineering III
- Reinforced Concrete & Masonry Design III
- Transportation Engineering III
- Documentation III
- Civil Engineering Practice (and Civil Engineering Project III for the new Diploma)
- Experience Requirement
- Normally 1 year of post-Diploma experience is expected unless exempted as above.

- Recognition of Prior Learning may be applied as per WSU policy.
