Bachelor of Education Honours
(i) Purpose of the qualification
This programme is a Bachelor of Education (Hons), with coursework modules and a research component that requires students to submit a research paper as a final product of their research project accomplishment. The assessment strategy for the coursework component of the programme consists of two forms of assessments namely, formative assessment and summative assessment. Formative assessment is intended to measure the student’s progress during the process of learning to provide ongoing and incremental feedback. Formative assessment supports the development of the students, ensures effective learning within context, and improves teaching and learning practices. All formative assessments are based on specific lesson outcomes which are properly aligned with the exit module outcomes. A minimum of four formative assessments are administered per year for year modules, whereas a minimum of two formative assessments are required per semester modules.
(ii) Minimum Admission Requirements
The minimum admission requirements for the B. Ed Hons are:
• a four-year professional teaching degree OR
• an appropriate bachelor’s degree and a recognised professional teaching
qualification OR
• a bachelor’s degree or diploma plus Postgraduate Certificate in Education OR
• College Higher Education Diploma (CHED)
