BEd Hons in Inclusive Education
(i) Purpose of the qualification
The purpose of the B. Ed Hons in Inclusive Education is to consolidate and deepen students’ knowledge of the discipline and develop research capacity in the methodology and techniques of the discipline as indicated in the Government Gazette (MRTEQ, February 2015, p.16). This programme includes course work and a research project to which a minimum of 30 credits at Level 8 are allocated (MRTEQ 2015, p.46). Further, this BEd Hons degree will contribute towards the students’ theoretical and strategic insights into inclusive education and practice.
(ii) Minimum Admission Requirements
The minimum admission requirements for the Bachelor of Education Honours degree are:
• a four-year professional teaching degree OR
• an appropriate bachelor’s degree and a recognised professional teaching
qualification OR
• a bachelor’s degree or diploma plus Postgraduate Certificate in Education OR
• College Higher Education Diploma (CHED)
