RC TEAM EQUIPS STAFF WITH TOOLS FOR THRIVING IN DIGITAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The Rationalization and Consolidation (R&C) Team at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) has handed over laptops to the Faculty of Law, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FLHSS) academic staff, at Zamukulungisa’s IT Hub, today.

According to R&C co-ordinator, Sanele Mshoetsi, the move will help capacitate staff with the necessary tools to thrive in an increasingly digital-centric academic environment.

“We want to help our staff strengthen their teaching and learning activities and other related academic activities in the newly consolidated faculties. We want to enhance effectiveness within our WSU community” said Mshoetsi.

Approximately 150 laptops are to be distributed to academic and support staff across the institution.

This also forms part of WSU’s efforts to usher the pursuit of excellence into the digital age to compete as a university of choice on the global stage.

The Faculty Executive Dean, Prof Thabisani Ndlovu, expressed his gratitude for the team’s invaluable contribution to advancing the digital agenda and vision of the institution.

“I do not doubt that this contribution will help in the transition that we are all going through as staff and students. This will empower us to adapt to the evolving landscape of higher education and embrace new possibilities for academic growth and development,” said Ndlovu.

Meanwhile, Interactive Communication Technologies (ICT) Director, Nkosinathi Zulu emphasised that the department has already taken several strides to support the institution through its changes, including state-of-the-art ICT’s.

“ICT has been working tirelessly to make sure that staff with new laptops are successfully integrated in time for the new digital agenda and the new academic year,” said Zulu.

He added, “We have installed the necessary technical support from Wi-fi, efficient internet, secure networks and softwares) and resources to maximise performance.”
