Utilising Alumni Fundraising to Combat Youth Unemployed through Entrepreneurship

relation officeThe Alumni Relations Office announces the successful fundraising outcome of R25,000 from the recent Alumni Reunion event. In response to youth unemployment, the office will allocate these funds to launch an Entrepreneurship Competition for unemployed WSU graduates. The initiative aims to:

  • Foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking
  • Promote self-employment and sustainable economic participation
  • Provide financial support, mentorship, and networking opportunities

This program will empower young graduates to become job creators and contribute to economic growth. The total competition budget of R25,000 will be awarded to the top three finalists as follows:

1st Prize: R12,000

2nd Prize: R8,000

3rd Prize: R5,000

This competition is a way to reward excellence, creativity, and also a meaningful step towards building a stronger, economically active WSU alumni community.
