Partnerships and Agreements

The Directorate facilitates the development and management of strategic partnerships with universities, government institutions, industry partners and international organisations.

These partnerships support joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, conferences, capacity development programmes and collaborative projects aligned with the University’s strategic priorities.

Institutional Partnerships

The Directorate of Internationalisation and Partnerships facilitates the development and management of strategic partnerships with universities, government institutions, industry partners and international organisations.

These partnerships support:

  • Joint conferences and academic events

Staff and Student Mobility

The Directorate facilitates international mobility opportunities for staff and students to promote academic collaboration, knowledge exchange and global engagement.

International mobility programmes contribute to the internationalisation of teaching, research and learning at the University by strengthening partnerships with institutions across the world.

Students and staff interested in mobility opportunities can access application information through the University's international office and partner programme platforms.

Outbound Mobility

Outbound mobility programmes enable WSU staff and students to participate in international academic and professional activities. These opportunities support the development of global competencies, research collaboration and professional growth.

Outbound mobility activities may include:

  • Academic exchange programmes

  • Research collaboration with international partners

  • Participation in international conferences

  • Professional development programmes and training

Applicants are encouraged to consult their faculty and the Internationalisation and Partnerships Directorate for guidance on eligibility and application procedures.

 

Inbound Mobility

The Directorate also facilitates inbound mobility by hosting international academics, researchers and students who visit the University for teaching, research and academic exchange.

Inbound mobility initiatives strengthen institutional partnerships and promote knowledge sharing between WSU and international institutions.

One example of inbound mobility collaboration is the partnership with the
Medical University of Graz, where international medical students participated in clinical placements in hospitals in East London. These programmes enhance cross-cultural learning and strengthen international academic cooperation.

Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)

In addition to physical mobility, the University promotes Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) as a form of virtual mobility. COIL enables students and academics from different countries to collaborate on shared coursework, projects and discussions through online platforms.

COIL programmes allow students to gain international exposure without travelling and support inclusive access to global learning opportunities. Through virtual collaboration with international partner institutions, students develop intercultural communication skills, global awareness and digital collaboration competencies.
